Terescription’s transcriptionists have to be US based and are required to sign confidentiality agreements. Transcripts have to be 99% accurate and delivery turn-around time (TAT) options include 24 hours, 36 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours.

Workathomemoms quotes under a description of Terescription that “Independent contractors transcribe for the entertainment industry. A foot pedal is required. Work pays $.07/line for a one-person interview and potentially more for multiple-speaker interviews. A transcriber typing at 70wpm can earn between $12 and $15 per hour.” (I don’t know when this was posted and if those rates are still accurate.)

An old press release states: “We have a small army of virtual transcribers working in locations from all over the country,” said Thomas Majchrowski, president of Terescription.  “Creating jobs for people in rural areas is part of the mission of Terescription.  We have staffed up and are continually contracting more people on a weekly basis so we can handle any turnaround time and any volume of work.”

They say the following on their web site: “We recognize the need for professional, experienced and specialized media transcriptionists to ensure that our media transcription services deliver premium-quality media transcripts. We employ a team of media transcription professionals who have demonstrated exceptional skill in this field of transcription and who have had years of experience in their profession. Capital Typing also employs some of the best caption writers and caption editors in the industry. Our media transcription staff has access to the latest specialized technology and software and is thus able to produce exceptional quality media transcripts, captioning and subtitling services.”

However, their web site also states: “At this time we have all the transcriptionist we need and are not actively recruiting. If you do sign up we will contact you as we get new jobs.”
